eco life :: natural toothpaste

I had a very unimpressed boyfriend this week when a new tube of toothpaste was required. Why? Because I had made the switch from our regular “supermarket” commonly known toothpaste brand to a more…. natural one. Seeing the tube in my local health food store while picking up some organic bits and pieces, I thought “why not” and grabbed a tube to try. I haven’t really done my research, but I can’t imagine that regular toothpaste is any good for us, so maybe I should.

After the boyfriends first try, I received a dispointed text message “the toothpaste is terrible”, but I didn’t let that put me off. When it came time for me to clean my toothies I nervously squeezed the olive green looking goo onto my brush. It tasted…. not so great… but not nesessartly bad either. Just different. And certainly not minty fresh“.

My teeth felt clean and my mouth fresh after cleaning, but you don’t really get that “squeeky clean” feeling like you would with regular toothpaste. Maybe it is just the brand I am trying, so maybe I should do a review of a few more… but at often $12 a pop it wouldn’t be a cheap experiment!

What are your thoughts? Do you use a special sort of toothpaste? Do you know the dangers of regular toothpaste? Should I be alarmed?

    Forgive my ignorance, but what’s wrong with normal toothpaste?
