because we love :: retro TV sitcoms

Recently the lovely {renee} and I were chatting about where our fascination with mid-century design and architecture (not to mention clothes) originated.

We stumbled upon the answer when we discovered that as a pair of latch-key kids, most of our afternoons were spent watching TV shows, our favourites being Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and of course The Brady Bunch.

With a clear modernist aesthetic throughout the set design of our sitcoms-of -choice, our fascination for clean lines, teak furniture, chunky pottery, muted tones and statement lamps had obviously started during our most influential years (and has stuck with us!)

During our research for the furniture installation we are setting up for our next exhibition, we are loving finding old images like these for inspiration, and just had to share.  What were your favourite retro sitcoms?

Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Starsky and Hutch, Charlies Angels and my super fave Adventure Island. Gotta love the seventies. xx

I love in Green Acres the complete opposite of Eva’s High City modern furniture to her husbands new but old broken down grey house that they live in.. just that composition alone is great.
