Guest Post :: How To Wear It {The Annabelle}
Hello lovely readers. Please allow me to introduce to you our super guest blogger Jordan Clarke from the fabulous The Art of Jordan! Those with a keen eye for art would have seen her amazing pieces in the Once Upon exhibition last year or maybe sussed out her new etsy shop. Not only is she an amazing artist, she also has a fantastic eye for fashion and style (see more on Jordan’s blog) and we are so excited to have Jordan here with an extra special post to help you find the perfect accessories for the perfect dress!

The delightful Angela and Renee of {Twin Set} have asked me to whip up some ‘fashion how-to’ guest posts (thanks girls!) and as soon as I saw their new dress The Annabelle I had visions of love-hearts, red roses and sweethearts.
I really love their suggestion of plimsoles with this dress for everyday – it’s a casual, fun and youthful look that’s great for the warmer months. But seeing as Valentine’s is around the corner…let’s zhuzh it up a little!
Valentine’s calls for a dash of pink and red. A bit cheesy, but I still remember one year when I wore a red sweater with a flowy skirt and little red shoes. Walking across the street to meet my boyfriend (who had unintentionally worn a pink shirt to work that day), the romance of the colours struck me and made my heart flutter. I felt very Dolce Vita. And I am definitely not one for cliched, romantic sop.
So here’s how to wear your Annabelle with style this Valentines:
- Bolero: A cute, floral dress like The Annabelle calls for a cropped bolero over your shoulders if the weather cools. Since it’s so small you can wear a little red one for a real punch of colour.
- Slingbacks: These little hotties are made by Beyond Skin and are completely vegan and eco-friendly. Who knew responsible fashion could be so chic? The neutral shade will soften all the warm reds.
- Handbag: Matching your handbag to your shoes is very old-school fashion ideology and not one I usually subscribe to. But Valentine’s is an excuse to be soppy and this Sarah Donegan Beau Bag from The Green Apple works perfectly. And the bow is oh-so-sweet.
- Accessories: Less is more I reckon. A brooch, ring and necklace could potentially be too much, but these are so delicate you can get away with it. Red vintage fabric brooch from The Green Apple; handmade Love Predictor necklace from This Charming Girl & retro button Red Bubbles ring by Much Love from Leeloo.
- Chocolates: Um, hello? Valentine’s without chocolate? I think not. And you just can’t go past these decadent handcrafted choccies from Select Hampers. Nom nom…
[If you aren't the lucky girl who nabs The Annabelle, you can get a dress like the Be My Valentine from ModCloth - the Retro Indie online store. But be quick, their stock sells out super fast!]
Lets make Jordan feel welcome by letting us know what you think of her first super amazing guest post!! Now I am so inspired for my Valentine’s outfit, I just need to make sure the date is just as sweet!!
