stay creative :: recycling security envelopes

I generally like to have some sort of creative project on the go at all times. May it be knitting, drawing, paper folding or just generally crafting. Reading blogs and magazines, I gather inspiration, and as soon as I see something I like, I tend to rush over to spotlight, or browse the online world for supplies and bits and pieces to buy. While my intentions are always good, this often leaves me with piles of unfinished, half made projects, and stacks of supplies lying around that I may never use again.

This year, I made a bit of a promise to myself to use up everything that I have before buying anything new. This is going rather well in my art department, however it is very easy to feel uninspired and dull when creating. Enter recycling. Hey, who would have thought that recycling meant more than just sorting out your waste into the appropriate bin! Recycling something doesn’t always mean you physically have to melt it down into a pulp turn it into something new in order for it to be used again. Re-using and re-purposing things can be just as good, if not better!

When searching for some pretty paper, I couldn’t help but notice the lovely patterns used on the inside of security envelopes! Yes, boring old security envelopes are usually the last thing people want to see lying around the place (oh no! bills!) however, if you care to peek inside one next time, you might be surprised!

Here are some ideas of the lovely things you can do with your now fabulous old security envelopes! Happy creating!

they are beautiful aren’t they. I love using the inside of envelopes for little notes for friends, or glueing then on the back of free postcards and sowing it on for a gift card.
so much joy to be had..
